Join us for this exclusive guided cycling vacation, as we ride several “stages” of the Amgen Tour of California, including the pivotal “Mt. Baldy mountain Top Finish” and the epic Individual Time Trial in beautiful Big Bear Lake. You will see many of the top professional cyclists in the world from Team BMC, Sky, Tinkoff-Saxo, challenge the defending champion Peter Sagan!. This spectacular experience will conclude with a ride along the Angeles Crest Highway on the way to watch the exciting finish in downtown Pasadena!
About the AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA
The Amgen Tour of California (ATOC) will once again bring the drama and excitement of a professional bicycle stage race to California. As the largest professional bicycle race in US, this seven-day, 700 mile race will progress along a route that includes the Central Coast, a mountain top finish at Mt Baldy, the Santa Barbara waterfront, and the San Gabriel Mountains. Each year the Amgen Tour of California attracts in excess of 1.2 million spectators over the course of this 7-day cycling event – the largest fan-attended event in California Sports History.

Difficulty: 40-60 miles per day; with options for additional miles.

Finish City: Pasadena, CA
Meet: Monday May 15th, 2017 @ Noon, at our retail store in Solvang. (Optional pick up in Santa Barbara)
Depart: Sunday May 21, 2017 from LAX or Santa Barbara Airport.

Day 1: Monday, May 15th
Arrival and Afternoon Warm Up
12 PM: Meet at shop in Solvang, CA
(optional pickup in Santa Barbara TBD)
Route: “Happy Canyon/ Ballard Canyon.”
Difficulty: Moderate, rolling hills
Distance: 30 miles(options for more).
We will kick off our week of riding with a scenic loop through the Santa Barbara Wine Country! As we ride out beautiful Happy Canyon we approach the famous Figueroa Mtn. Climb that all the top America Pro's train on, including BMC’s Tejay Van Garderen!
Dinner: Cecco Ristorante in Solvang, CA
Accommodations: The Hadsten House Inn and Spa
Day 2: Tuesday, May 16th
Stage 3: Pismo Beach to Morro Bay, Pacific Coastline & Elephant Seals
Route: Pacific Coast Highway
Difficulty: Moderate; accessible to all riders
Distance: 40-50 miles with options for more.
California's Central Coast has long been a race favorite over the years. This Stage will feature another start in Pismo Beach with a first time finish near the harbor in Morro Bay. The stage is designed for a craft sprinter who can handle the uphill sprint to the finish.
Dinner: Grappolo’s Trattoria in Santa Ynez, CA.
Accommodations: The Hadsten House Inn and Spa
Day 3: Wednesday, May 17th
Stage 4: Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita
Route: Casitas Pass/Ojai Valley
Difficulty: Moderate with two climbs
Distance: 45-50 miles with options for more
Check out of the Hadsten House Inn and shuttle to Santa Barbara. Stage 4 returns to a favorite start along the beach in Santa Barbara. This will be a familiar course for many of the riders and will feature a challenging climb over Casitas Pass into the beautiful Ojai Valley. Prepare for some of the most scenic vistas in the area, along the circuitous shoreline of Lake Casitas.

Accommodations: Double Tree Clairmont
Day 4: Thursday, May 18th
Stage 5: Ontario to Mt. Baldy-Shuttle to Glendora Mtn. Ridge Road.
Route: Difficult w/ option to summit climb.
Distance: 30-40 miles
Mt. Baldy, is the Queen Stage!. This 26-mile climb to the finish includes multiple switchbacks and a steep finish at the ski resort. It has been two years since the race rocked the Angeles National. The fun will start in the City of Ontario setting the riders on course that will lead the race north up the main artery and a climb will begin that will burn their legs.

Dinner: On your own. Recommendations available.

Day 5: Friday, May 19th
Stage 6: Individual Time Trial at Big Bear
Route: Big Bear Lake Individual Time Trial
Difficulty: Moderate to difficult
Distance: 30-40 miles. Two laps on TT course
(options for more.)
The riders will take out their revenge on this technical 15- mile course. While it is flat, the 6,800-foot elevation around Big Bear Lake will certainly sap the strength from many of the riders on this penultimate day.

Day 6: Saturday, May 20th
Stage 7: Mtn. High to Pasadena
Shuttle to start of ride
Route: Mtn. High to Pasadena (Via Angeles Crest Highway)
Distance: 60+ miles.
The Amgen Tour of California returns to the Mountain High ski resort for the start of the final stage. While this will be fast and largely downhill run into Pasadena, the riders will have two significant climbs that will top out at over 7,900 feet. The crowds in Pasadena will be watching the top teams try to deliver their sprinter to the line to claim the finish.
Dinner: Hosted farewell dinner in Pasadena, CA.

Day 7: Sunday, May 21st
Hotel Check Out
Awake to a relaxing morning as we say our farewell and goodbyes to new found friends.
