Join us in this exclusive guided cycling vacation, ride several “stages” of the Amgen Tour of California, including the pivotal “Solvang Individual Time Trial” in our own backyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. You will see many of the top professional cyclists in the world from Team CSC, Astana, Garmin-Chipotle and High Road-Columbus, as they start and finish in cities along the Central Coast of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
About the AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA
The fourth installment of the Amgen Tour of California (ATOC) will once again bring the drama and excitement of a professional bicycle stage race to California.
As the largest professional bicycle race in US, this nine-day, 800 mile race will race along a route that includes the Redwoods, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sierra Nevada foothills, the state capitol, plus the Pacific Ocean and the wine country.
Each year the Amgen Tour of California attracts in excess of 1.2 million spectators over the course of this 9-day cycling event – the largest in California Sports History.

This Inn is in the quaint Danish town of Solvang and is located on the outskirts of town and is close to many different restaurants and shopping. The only inn in Solvang with a row of vineyards in the front; the Hadsten House has a wine country comfort to it complete with deluxe accommodations and spa services. Several of the teams from the Amgen Tour of California will be staying at the same hotel.

Trip Cancellation Insurance is recommended. Bike Rental includes: Specialized Road bike, helmet, water bottles & tool kit. Wine Country “Follow the Race” Cycling Vacation Trip Itinerary
DAY ONE: Wednesday, February 18th Solvang Arrival/ Afternoon of Cycling
Santa Barbara is our rendezvous point. We will pick you up at the Canary Hotel at noon or the Santa Barbara Airport at 1:00 PM. From here we will transfer with luggage to Hadsten House Inn in Solvang.
Upon your arrival in Solvang and check in at your hotel, we will begin introductions about the details about your cycling vacation. Since the Amgen Tour of California is still a few days away from the Solvang area, you will be able to preview the Stage 7 Time Trial course before the pro riders do. Option for additional mileage.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 5 – Merced to Clovis Stage five of the Amgen Tour of California leaves the central valley town of Merced, before it heads along rolling hills en route to the farming town of Clovis. With overall contenders starting to fall into line, today is a day for the sprinters to celebrate victory with a likely mass sprint into downtown Clovis.
DAY TWO: Thursday, February 19th
 Cycling, Tepesquet Canyon & Finish Line in Paso Robles
As the peloton winds its way through the Paso Robles Wine Country, you will be cycling through the quaint town of Los Olivos and up along Foxen Canyon past vineyards and horse ranches.
Our ride continues through the bucolic countryside before we past through the small town of Sisqouc. Our ride concludes with an intermediate climb up Tepesquet Canyon Road. After a short descent down the other side, we will shuttle up to Paso Robles to see the finish of Stage 6.

- Level: Moderate, rolling hills and one climb (35-45 miles); option for additional mileage.

- Group Dinner: Mattie’s Tavern in Los Olivos
Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 6 – Visalia to Paso Robles Stage six of the Amgen Tour of California leaves the farming town of Visalia in the Central Valley and heads for the hills along the Sierra Madre range of Western California, before the race enters the wine country of Paso Robles. With a likely breakaway early in the day, expect the peloton to regroup near the finish with another day for the sprinters in Paso Robles.
DAY THREE: Friday, February 20th
 Solvang Stage 7 Time Trial / Afternoon Cycling
Awake to another spectacular day in the Santa Ynez Valley wine country. After breakfast, we will walk down to the Race Festival in downtown Solvang to watch the individual Time Trial and take part in the excitement of the day. Cheer on your favorite pro cyclists as they warm up before the race, and as they take their turn on what is expected to be a thrilling time trial!
After the final rider passes the finish line, and the race jerseys are handed out on the podium, we will leave for an afternoon ride out to Happy Canyon with an optional climb up part of the infamous Figueroa Mountain – one of Lance’s favorite rides in the area. Friday evening we will dress up for the Solvang TOC Gala, where we can expect to see several of the riders from the race, plus an unforgettable appearance by race announcer and legend, Bob Roll!

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 7 – Solvang Individual Time Trial The past two years, Levi Leipheimer has shown secured the race lead with solid wins at the Solvang Time Trial. Each rider leaves from a “chute” at 1-minuted intervals with the lead riders starting last in order of their race classification. DAY FOUR: Saturday, February 21st Epic Jalama Beach Ride & Wine-Tasting Dinner
Today we have the option to either shuttle to the starting line in Santa Clarita for the beginning of Stage 8 or ride out to Jalama Beach – one of the epic rides of the Santa Ynez Valley. This ride starts out in the wine country and winds through beautiful country hillsides, before we crest over the final climb and see the spectacular Pacific Coastline.
Lunch will await us at the beach. Be sure to try out the world famous Jalama Beach Burgers too! Shuttle service available for return trip back to Solvang.
Tonight we bid farewell to our newfound friends over a wine tasting dinner in Santa Ynez.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 8 – Santa Clarita to Pasadena Today’s stage includes several climbs through the Los Angeles Wilderness, and may include a successful breakaway as the race descends into the town of Pasadena. The race finishes with several circuits around the famous Rose Bowl, where the break may be caught and another sprint finish could be possible.
DAY FIVE: Sunday, February 22nd
Final Farewells & Depart to Santa Barbara
We will awake Sunday morning to breakfast at the Hadsten House Inn before we pack up at bid farewell. Shuttle service is available to the Santa Barbara Airport.
Prior arrangements will be made with Dr. Js Bicycle Shop for those who wish to ship their bicycles.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 9 – Escondido to Rancho Bernardo Today marks the final day of the Amgen Tour of California with a first stage in San Diego County. Expect the overall race lead to be determined by today, after the time trial and the following hill climb on Stage 8. Riders will celebrate the last day of the race, with Champagne and a festival in San Diego.

Release & Assumption of Risk Waiver
Release and Assumption of Risk: Our release & Assumption of Risk must be signed by all parties that are reserving with Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours. For children under 18, a parent or guardian must sign on his/her behalf.
A. Risks and Dangers in Travel and Related Matters. I recognize that the trips and tours offered by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours will or may involve travel and activities which are, or may be, inherently dangerous to participants; that travel by public or private conveyance of any sort, or travel on bicycle may result in illness, injury or death which may be caused by, or result from, my own negligence, actions or failure to act of others, including employees or agents of Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours., by physical exertion for which I am not prepared, consumption of alcohol, medications or drugs, natural events or other causes. I voluntarily accept all such
risks. I further agree that I have read all the safety and other rules, regulations and instructions or other material given to me either orally or in writing by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and I will abide by them and all generally accepted rules of safety and behavior, during my trips with Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours. In connection with bicycle trips offered by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours, I agree to wear a bicycle helmet at all times.
B. Acceptance of Risks and Dangers. I voluntarily accept all such, and all related risks.
C. Waiver of Claims against Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and Others. In consideration of Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours permitting myself and/or my family members to participate in the tours and activities provided by it, and persons associated with it, I hereby release Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours, its owners, agents, servants, employees and independent contractors from any and all claims, demands and liabilities which I now have or in the future may have against it or them which may result from my (or my families) participation in the activities covered by, or related to, this agreement. This release and waiver shall be binding on my, my heirs, executors and administrators and all persons claiming under me.
D. Insurance. I am aware that medical services or facilities may not be readily available or accessible during some of the time in which I am participating in the trip. I am also aware that trip cancellation and medical insurance is being offered to me through a separate insurance agency and that Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours strongly recommends that I purchase this coverage or obtain such insurance from some independent agency of my own choice.
E. Right of Privacy. I hereby grant Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours the right to take, and use, for promotional and other commercial purposes, photographic and other records of its trips and participants.
F. Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by, and interpreted according to, the laws of the State of California and any disputes or claims made under it shall be determined by arbitration as provided by the laws of the State of California.
General. I also acknowledge that I have carefully read Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tour’s general information including its policy on canceled trips, refunds and insurance and agree to all stated conditions set forth on the Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours web site. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and/or its affiliated organizations and I sign it of my own free will and in its entirety.
