For the fourth consecutive year, Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours will be shadowing stages of the Amgen Tour of California along the Southern Segment of this World-Acclaimed Cycling Race.

Join us on this exclusive guided cycling vacation, ride several “stages” of the Amgen Tour of California, including the pivotal Big Bear Mountain Top Finish in the San Bernadino Mountains, outside of Los Angeles. You will see many of the top professional cyclists in the world including: Team Radio Shack, Saxo-Bank, Astana, Garmin-Transitions and High Road-Columbus, as they start and finish in cities in Southern California.
About the AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA
The fifth installment of the Amgen Tour of California (ATOC) will once again bring the drama and excitement of a professional bicycle stage race to California. As the largest professional bicycle race in US, this nine-day, 800 mile race will race along a route that includes the Redwoods, the Sierra Nevada foothills, the state capitol, plus the inclusion of a first ever Mountain Top finish at Big Bear Lake in Southern California. Each year the Amgen Tour of California attracts in excess of 1.2 million spectators over the course of this 9-day cycling event – the largest in California Sports History.

DAY ONE: Wednesday, May 19th Santa Barbara Arrival / Afternoon Cycling
Santa Barbara is our rendezvous point. We will pick you up at the Santa Barbara Airport at 1:00 PM. From here we will transfer with luggage to Inn at the Harbor near the waterfront.
Upon your arrival and check in at your hotel, we will begin introductions about the details about your cycling vacation. Since the Amgen Tour of California is still a few days away from Southern California you will be able ride some of the spectacular roads along the foothills and the waterfront in America’s Riviera. Option for additional mileage.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 4 – San Jose to Modesto
Stage Four of the Amgen Tour of California leaves the Silicon Valley, near the famed Mt. Hamilton before it heads along rolling hills en route to the farming town of Modesto. With the overall lead still in contention, today is a day for the sprinters to celebrate victory. Look for Mark Cavendish of Team Columbia to add another victory to his arsenal.
DAY TWO: Thursday, May 20th Transfer to Big Bear Lake, Cycling in mountains near Big Bear
Today we transfer early to Big Bear Lake, a day ahead of the cycling peloton. After checking in to the Big Bear Chateau, we will ride some of the intermediate climbs to be challenged by the top KOM riders tomorrow. Option to tackle the 8400’ summit of Onyx peak.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 5 – Visalia to Bakersfield
Stage Five of the Amgen Tour of California leaves the farming town of Visalia and heads for the hills along the Sierra Madre range of Western California, before the race enters the flat Central Valley en route to Bakersfield. With a likely breakaway early in the day, expect the peloton to regroup near the finish with another day for the sprinters in Bakersfield.
DAY THREE: Friday, May 21st Big Bear Lake / ATOC Stage 6 Mountain Top Finish
Awake to a spectacular day in Big Bear Lake. Today we will ride out to several important vantage points in the mountains leading in to Big Bear to see the Amgen Tour of California arrive in what is expected to be the most exciting stage of this year’s race.
Our day starts with a visit downtown to the Big Bear Village to explore the finish line festivities, where a gourmet picnic lunch will await us along the waterfront of Big Bear Lake. After lunch, we will meander along the roads into the local mountains to watch for the approach of the lead riders.
After the peloton passes, we will make our way back to the Big Bear Village to watch the Awards Ceremony.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 6 – Pasadena to Big Bear
Today’s Queen Stage will start in downtown Pasadena and pass along two mountain passes. Shortly after circling the Rose Bowl, the peloton will start the climb up towards Wrightwood Ski Resort. The second, longer climb will take the riders to an elevation of nearly 8000’ to the mountain top finish of Big Bear – the first ever mountain top finish in the Amgen Tour of California. Fireworks are sure to be setoff on this epic stage! Look for Levi to stamp his authority on the race.
DAY FOUR: Saturday, May 22nd Cycling & ATOC Downtown LA Time Trial
After breakfast, we will shuttle to downtown Los Angeles for the Stage 7 Individual Time Trail. Set in front of the new LA Live Entertainment venue, AEG is offering an optional VIP package to those who wish to watch the race in style!
The rest of us will leave our bikes behind and explore the ATOC Time Trial venue on foot. After watching, what is expected to be an exciting finish followed by the Awards Ceremony we will shuttle to Westlake Village, the start of tomorrow’s stage 8.
An optional afternoon cycling tour will be offered for those who wish to explore portions of the final Stage 8 ATOC in the foothills surrounding Agoura Hills, Westlake Village & Thousand Oaks.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 7 – Los Angeles Individual Time Trial
Taking a hiatus from the 3-year reign of the Individual Time Trial in Solvang, the ATOC moves to downtown Los Angeles for the 2010 edition. Look for the overall contenders to battle for victory on this time trial that will take riders all the way down to Venice Beach & back. Expect Levi to push ahead with another victory on this time trial. Whether or not it will be enough for the overall lead or not; we will have to wait and see.
DAY FIVE: Sunday, May 23rd Final Stage 8 & Farewells
Today is the last day of your trip, but not one without some excitement. The last day of our tour includes viewing portions of the Thousand Oaks /Agoura Hills/ Westlake Village circuit race of the ATOC.
This shorter race will include climbs through the surrounding Santa Monica Mountains, as well as a downtown finish near the Amgen Corporate headquarters in Newbury Park.

Amgen TOC Pro Race Update: Stage 8 – Agoura Hills / Westlake Village / Thousand Oaks Circuit Race
Today is the final day of the 2010 Amgen Tour of California with a circuit race in the neighboring downs of the title sponsor, Amgen. Expect the overall standings to not change much. There may be some excitement along the climb near the Red Rock Café, though the peloton most likely will catch back up before a mass sprint in Thousand Oaks. Will Mark Cavendish add yet another stage victory?

Price includes hotel, tour fees and all meals (not including alcohol). Price does not include airfare or travel expenses. Trip Cancellation Insurance is recommended. A $400 deposit per person is required to guarantee a spot on the trip. This amount is refundable up to 45 days, less an administration fee of $100 per person. Sunday night stay in Westlake Village is optional and not included in tour price.

Release & Assumption of Risk Waiver
Release and Assumption of Risk: Our release & Assumption of Risk must be signed by all parties that are reserving with Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours. For children under 18, a parent or guardian must sign on his/her behalf.
A. Risks and Dangers in Travel and Related Matters. I recognize that the trips and tours offered by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours will or may involve travel and activities which are, or may be, inherently dangerous to participants; that travel by public or private conveyance of any sort, or travel on bicycle may result in illness, injury or death which may be caused by, or result from, my own negligence, actions or failure to act of others, including employees or agents of Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours., by physical exertion for which I am not prepared, consumption of alcohol, medications or drugs, natural events or other causes. I voluntarily accept all such risks. I further agree that I have read all the safety and other rules, regulations and instructions or other material given to me either orally or in writing by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and I will abide by them and all generally accepted rules of safety and behavior, during my trips with Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours. In connection with bicycle trips offered by Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours, I agree to wear a bicycle helmet at all times.
B. Acceptance of Risks and Dangers. I voluntarily accept all such, and all related risks.
C. Waiver of Claims against Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and Others. In consideration of Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours permitting myself and/or my family members to participate in the tours and activities provided by it, and persons associated with it, I hereby release Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours, its owners, agents, servants, employees and independent contractors from any and all claims, demands and liabilities which I now have or in the future may have against it or them which may result from my (or my families) participation in the activities covered by, or related to, this agreement. This release and waiver shall be binding on my, my heirs, executors and administrators and all persons claiming under me.
D. Insurance. I am aware that medical services or facilities may not be readily available or accessible during some of the time in which I am participating in the trip. I am also aware that trip cancellation and medical insurance is being offered to me through a separate insurance agency and that Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours strongly recommends that I purchase this coverage or obtain such insurance from some independent agency of my own choice.
E. Right of Privacy. I hereby grant Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours the right to take, and use, for promotional and other commercial purposes, photographic and other records of its trips and participants.
F. Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by, and interpreted according to, the laws of the State of California and any disputes or claims made under it shall be determined by arbitration as provided by the laws of the State of California.
General. I also acknowledge that I have carefully read Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tour’s general information including its policy on canceled trips, refunds and insurance and agree to all stated conditions set forth on the Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours web site. I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours and/or its affiliated organizations and I sign it of my own free will and in its entirety.
