Escape the pace of the big city for a relaxing weekend with just the girls.  This fabulous cycling tour is about more than just the biking.  Enjoy health, wellness, and pampering with exercise, fine dining, rejuvenating spa treatments, and luxurious accommodations.  Each bike ride will include a wonderful healthful gourmet picnic lunch followed by wine tasting and of course the option for afternoon massage. 

Cycling Level: Intermediate; 25-30 miles /day.

    The cycling routes listed below are easily customized to the ability level of your group.  Please call our office to discuss other route options if you're not sure these will be the right fit.  We can accommodate the distance and difficulty to any expertise.

4-Day / 3-Night Cycling Vacation includes:

  • 3 nights of deluxe accommodations at the Santa Ynez Inn (Santa Ynez, CA).
  • 2 half-day (9 am – 1 pm) guided cycling tours with professional tour guide.
  • 1 afternoon cycling tour (1 – 3:30 pm) on Sunday.
  • Gourmet picnic lunch and local wine tasting with each half-day tour.
  • 2 spa treatments of either deep tissue massage or spa aromatherapy.
  • 2 dinners to include open menu, tax, and gratuity; alcohol is on your own.
  • Bicycle rentals, helmets, and custom water bottles.  Upgrade to full-carbon Specialized Roubaix for $20 /person /day.  Or bring your own bike and save $10 /person /day.
  • Optional shuttle to and from Santa Barbara airport.  (add $100)
     


 

Accommodations
Santa Ynez Inn ( www.santaynezinn.com )

    This elegant Victorian-style inn is located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.  The inn is within walking distance to many different restaurants and clothing boutiques. 

    Enjoy spacious, luxurious rooms, an elegant breakfast each morning, and a daily afternoon wine hour.  The hotel is conveniently located directly across the street from our store in Santa Ynez.
     


Day 1, Sunday
Shuttle to Santa Ynez & Afternoon Tour
12:00 PM:  Optional shuttle pickup in Santa Barbara
Route:  Easy, accessible to all riders
Miles:  20  warm up ride; 1:30 - 3:00 pm

    We will kick off our week of riding with an easy scenic loop through the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.  Ride gentle country roads past horse ranches, apple orchards, and vineyards with views of the magnificent San Rafael Mountains. 

    After passing through the quaint town of Los Olivos, we will ride through picturesque Ballard Canyon.

    Dinner at Trattoria Grappolo in Santa Ynez.

Day 2, Monday - Happy Canyon
Route:  Moderate; accessible to all riders with options for climbing
Miles:  20-30; 9:00 am – 1:30 pm

    After a wonderful hotel breakfast at the Inn, meet at our location to meet your guide and preview today's route.  You'll ride to the eastern hills and Happy Canyon Road and enjoy breathtaking vistas of majestic mountain tops and oak-studded rolling hills before arriving at a favorite local vineyard where you are served a delightful gourmet picnic lunch. 

    Our now-famous lunches are served on cloaked tables overlooking vineyards or nestled in more intimate settings.  You will be served some of our favorite local foods served with flatware and glassware.  Wine tasting follows your leisurely lunch before we make our short return trip to the shop.  This afternoon choose from massage or aromatherapy treatments at the Inn. 

    Dinner is on your own tonight.  Recommendations available.

Day 3, Tuesday - Ballard Canyon
Route: Moderate with one climb; option to SAG back after lunch
Miles:  20-25; 9:00 am – 1:30 pm

    This ride takes us through the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.  We leave our shop winding along back roads past ranches, vineyards, and agricultural land en route to Ballard Canyon Road, featured in the Amgen Tour of California and one of our favorite rides. 

    Ballard starts with a short but decently steep climb before dropping into a rolling downhill past bucolic vineyards, ranches with buffalo, and olive orchards.  Arrive at Buttonwood Winery for picnic lunch and wine tasting.  Buttonwood is a lovely winery nestled in seasonal orchards.  The vineyard boasts 39 acres of vines, a mix of sauvignon blanc, merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc, and syrah.

    This afternoon choose from massage or aromatherapy treatments at the Inn.
    Dinner at the Vineyard House Restaurant.  Savor local varietals during this wine-tasting dinner.

Day 4, Wednesday Breakfast & Goodbyes

    Following an unforgettable sunrise and a plentiful breakfast, our journey through central California comes to a close. 

    Bid farewell to your newfound friends until next time. 

    Shuttle service is available to Santa Barbara airport.
