This journey through the Santa Barbara wine country will treat you to spectacular days of cycling, gourmet lunches, fine dining, deluxe accommodations, and handcrafted local wines.

Intermediate; 25-40 miles /day.

The cycling routes listed below are easily customized to the ability level of your group.  Please call our office to discuss other route options if you're not sure these will be the right fit.  We can accommodate the distance and difficulty to any expertise.

  • 3 dinners to include open menu, tax, and gratuity; alcohol is on your own.
  • Bicycle rentals, helmets, and custom water bottles. 
    Upgrade to full-carbon Specialized Roubaix for $20 /person /day.

    This elegant Victorian-style inn is located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.  The inn is within walking distance to many different restaurants and clothing boutiques.  Enjoy spacious, luxurious rooms, an elegant breakfast each morning, and a daily afternoon wine hour. 

    The hotel is conveniently located directly across the street from our store in Santa Ynez.
     

Inn of the Spanish Garden ( www.spanishgardeninn.com )

    This luxury boutique inn located in downtown Santa Barbara is just a few blocks from fine dining, theaters, and shopping.  It offers a contemporary and sophisticated Spanish-Mediterranean style with quality amenities and close attention to personal service. 

    The inn features king beds with frette linens, fireplaces, and deluxe bath amenities.  Each room includes either a private balcony or garden.  A deluxe breakfast is included each morning.
     

 


Day 1, Sunday - Shuttle to Santa Ynez & Afternoon Tour

12:00 PM:  Optional shuttle pickup in Santa Barbara
Route:  Easy, accessible to all riders
Miles:  20  warm up ride; 1:30 - 3:00 pm

    We will kick off our week of riding with an easy scenic loop through the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.  Ride gentle country roads past horse ranches, apple orchards, and vineyards with views of the magnificent San Rafael Mountains. 

    After passing through the quaint town of Los Olivos, we will ride through picturesque Ballard Canyon.

Day 2, Monday - Happy Canyon

Route:  Moderate; accessible to all riders with options for climbing
Miles:  20-30; 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

    A SYV Tourx320After a wonderful hotel breakfast at the Inn, meet at our location to meet your guide and preview today's route.  You'll ride to the eastern hills and Happy Canyon Road and enjoy breathtaking vistas of majestic mountain tops and oak-studded rolling hills before arriving at a favorite local vineyard where you are served a delightful gourmet picnic lunch. 

    Our now-famous lunches are served on cloaked tables overlooking vineyards or nestled in more intimate settings.  You will be served some of our favorite local foods served with flatware and glassware.  Wine tasting follows your leisurely lunch before we continue our ride.

Day 3, Tuesday - Foxen Canyon

Route: Moderate with two climbs; option to SAG back after lunch
Miles:  50 (25 with SAG return); 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

    This ride takes us through the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley's wine country. After winding our way from Santa Ynez, we journey to Foxen Canyon and ride through some of the most beautiful country in the area, secluded and pristine.  We pass premier wineries in the area including Zaca Mesa and Foxen.

    After the two short hills in the early part of the ride, we experience a nearly 10-mile slight downhill to Rancho Sisquoc Winery.  Lunch is served at Rancho Sisquoc Winery beneath avocado trees in a breathtaking picnic area; wine tasting follows.  Later we head back along the same route--a steady uphill--with two one-mile climbs, or ride back in the SAG vehicle. Day 4, Wednesday Santa Rosa River Valley & Alma Rosa Winery

Route:  Moderate; two climbs, many flats, and
options for more mileage or option to SAG back after lunch
Miles:  35-45; 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

    Foxen Canyon HillsCheck out of your hotel this morning or arrange for a late check-out.  Awaken to the pleasure of a comfortable breeze as you ride through the beautiful Santa Rosa Valley.  We'll pass through the outskirts of Solvang through the town of Buellton, the city made famous by the movie Sideways.  This cycling route offers the perfect contrast of rolling wine country hills and the flowing Santa Ynez River. 

    Enjoy a scenic ride through the Santa Rita hills famous for Pinot Noir.  The terrain is mostly flats with two climbs.  Picnic lunch and wine tasting await you at the bucolic creek side of Alma Rosa Winery.  Time it just right on the way back to the Inn for the perfect afternoon tail wind.

    Shuttle to Inn of the Spanish Garden in Santa Barbara for check in.  Dinner is on your own in Santa Barbara.  Recommendations available.  Accommodations: Inn of the Spanish Garden

Day 5, Thursday  Santa Barbara Foothills & Waterfront

Route:  Two options based on level of difficulty: easy (flats); moderate (some climbing)
Miles:  25-35 with options for more; 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

    santa barbara coast line Today, enjoy the spectacular riding through the foothills of Santa Barbara.  A visit to this part of the Pacific would not be complete without a ride along the “Santa Barbara Riviera” which features breathtaking views of the Santa Barbara harbor and the Channel Islands. 

    After stopping to see the Santa Barbara Mission, we continue to make our way towards the coast where we will enjoy lunch at a favorite local restaurant.

    7 PM Farewell dinner at one of our local favorites in Santa Barbara.  Accommodations: Inn of the Spanish Garden

Day 6, Friday

Breakfast & Goodbyes
